My Passion and My Why
When I’m exhausted, what makes me get up and do it all over again?
Of course, the money helps—but that’s not the only reason.
My true why lies in passion and purpose:
- I genuinely love what I do.
- I love marketing.
- I love adding value and supporting clients.
- I love coming up with ideas.
- And most importantly, I love making a difference.
These are just a few of my whys. What are yours?
The Power of Customer Service
Customer service, by definition, is “the assistance and advice provided by a company to those people who buy or use its products or services.”
I pride myself and my business on delivering outstanding customer service. My testimonials and case studies reflect this, which is always encouraging.
Some of the ways I strive to provide exceptional service include:
- Building long-term relationships (83% of my clients return, and 100% increase their retainer hours or project needs).
- Sending thoughtful gifts and birthday cards.
- Celebrating clients publicly on social media.
As business author Michael LeBoeuf said:
“A satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all.”
What do you do for great customer service? And what’s the best—or worst—you’ve experienced?
Why Do My Clients Use and Need Me?
Clients turn to me for a number of reasons:
- Growth – They need extra resource as the business expands.
- Demand – Projects arrive unexpectedly, and they require interim support.
- Skills – They need expertise they don’t have in-house.
If you were outsourcing an account or project manager, what would convince you to take the leap?
Characteristics of a Successful Business Owner
At a recent Bigger Brighter Bolder community event, we explored what traits define successful entrepreneurs. Here are a few that stood out:
- Tenacity
- Willingness
- Stepping up when needed
- Risk-taking (to a degree)
- Focus and discipline
- Resilience
- Patience
- Endurance and stamina
How many of these do you see in yourself? What others would you add?
Do You Run Your Business, or Does It Run You?
Whose agenda are you following most days—your own, or whoever shouts the loudest?
Many of us, myself included, can find ourselves head down, just “cracking on,” without realizing we’re working to someone else’s plan.
Mindset plays a crucial role in how we approach processes, sales, marketing, and confidence.
So, the big question: do you run your business, or does it run you?
In conclusion
At the heart of success in marketing, agencies, and business ownership lies one question: Why?
Your “why” fuels your passion, drives your standards of customer service, and gives clarity on how you serve clients best. Pair this with the right mindset and traits—like resilience, discipline, and adaptability—and you set yourself up for sustainable success.
The next step is reflection: define your why, elevate your customer service, and take charge of your business agenda.
